Gamesa Electric will supply 113 MW of Proteus solar inverters in Colombia.
- The Portón del Sol project will be built by Elecnor and has been developed by Enerfin.
- This is Gamesa Electric’s largest project to date in Colombia.
Gamesa Electric has signed an agreement with Elecnor Atersa to supply its Proteus 4300 inverters to the Portón del Sol solar project that Enerfin is developing in the department of Caldas (Colombia).
Specifically, the supply consists of 28 Proteus 4300 inverters, integrated in 13 PV Stations of 8.3MVA and 2 PV Stations of 4.15 MVA, with a total power of 116.2 MVA.
It should be noted that in addition to complying with the Colombian grid code, the equipment supplied must have RETIE certification, the technical regulation for electrical installations, which is mandatory in Colombia. Furthermore, the equipment has seismic reinforcement, CH4 corrosion protection and a design temperature of 45ºC to adapt optimally to the demanding conditions of the location.
«We are very pleased to collaborate with Elecnor in one of its photovoltaic projects in Colombia,» said Enrique de la Cruz, Sales Director of Solar & Storage at Gamesa Electric. «This project is another example of how competitive the Proteus PV inverter is in large-scale projects thanks to its high-power output, which allows the use of less equipment. Moreover, its record efficiency level, and low harmonics allow the plant’s production to be optimized» .
Larger inverters to reduce costs
The Gamesa Electric Proteus PV inverter is one of the most powerful inverters on the market at 4700 kVA and offers a record efficiency of 99.45%, with an extremely low harmonic level (THDi) of 0.7%.
The high rated power together with the outstanding electrical efficiency and low harmonics values lead to significant improvements in the LCoE, firstly by reducing the number of inverter station units per project and thus saving on logistics, construction, cabling, commissioning and maintenance costs. On the other hand, the higher efficiency values and lower losses result in higher energy production at the solar plant level, contributing to a further reduction of the project’s LCoE.
Recently, the Gamesa Electric Proteus inverter was voted best solar inverter of the year at the prestigious Intersolar Awards 2022.
