New 78 MW supply contract in the Philippines

New 78 MW supply contract in the Philippines

We have been awarded a new 78 MW supply contract for Kapangan hydropower plant in the Philippines. This run-of-river hydropower plant will be completed and operational by 2023 to help provide additional renewable energy to the Luzon grid.

The government of the country has set a goal to become energy self-sufficient by 2040, including a rising share of renewables to at least 20,000 MW from its current 7,079 MW, contributing to lower carbon emissions. Hydropower is expected to be the most important renewable source, with the Department of Energy having most recently approved and awarded over 450 projects for a total of 13.5 GW in the country.

The total supply for this project will be of three 26 MW Gamesa Electric synchronous hydro generators for a total of 78 MW to help with this ambitious development.

This is not the first time this client has trusted again in both our products and team capabilities. Together, we have installed a total of 293 MW for 11 projects in 8 countries.
