Located in a reservoir on the Angat River in San Lorenzo, Bulacan, the plant became operational in 1967 and provides electricity to Metropolitan Manila.
With this project, Gamesa Electric confirms its presence in the Philippines, a country with a high level of economic development – currently growing by 7% a year – that trusts the development of hydroelectric power generation to meet its energy demand. This project is our fifth collaboration with the same customer.
Due to its reliance on imported coal and diesel, this country has the highest prices in South East Asia. To make energy more affordable for both consumers and industry, the government has committed to raising to 50% the contribution of renewable energies of its total electricity generating capacity by 2030. The move would help the country in its commitment to reduce its carbon emissions by 70% by 2030. We are glad to help Philippines with this transition.
