Refurbishment of 7 MW Pian Sulè hydropower plant

Refurbishment of 7 MW Pian Sulè hydropower plant

We take part in the renovation of this unique hydropower plant originally built in 1929 in the Piedmont Mountains of Italy

We have been awarded a new contract for the supply of a 7 MW synchronous hydro generator with the corresponding auxiliaries. As part of the renovation works of the Pian Sulè hydropower plant in Italy, a new Gamesa Electric synchronous hydro generator will replace the existing asynchronous generator. Located in the municipality of Usseglio, province of Turin, this plant was built in a cave in 1929.

The plant consists of a turbine/generator room with the 11.5 kV MV cabin and a horizontal shaft generator unit, with Pelton wheel and asynchronous generator. This project is part of a tender including three plants connected hydraulically and electrically, Dietro la Torre, Pian Sulè and Crot. The work will be carried out always considering the three production systems as a whole and never separately.
