New 3.8 MW supply contract for Caracoli power plant

We have been awarded the supply of a 3.8 MW synchronous hydro generator for the replacement of the existing electromechanical equipment for Caracoli hydropower plant

Gamesa Electric will supply one 3.8 MW synchronous hydro generator for the Caracoli hydropower plant. This machine will replace the existing one in this small hydro plant located in Antioquia, Colombia.

Currently, the plant is equipped with two generation units, a Pelton turbine and a Francis turbine, both with horizontal axis. Our client intends to rehabilitate the power plant, built in 1936 to harness the waters of the Nus River. The renovation works will consist on replacing all electromechanical equipment, pressure piping and intake structures.

The Caracoli project represents our 6^th collaboration with this client, with a total of 54 MW installed together in two different countries.
